What is estriol face cream?
After menopause, falling estrogen leaves skin thinner, drier and less firm. Estriol is a mild form of estrogen, and small studies suggest a low-dose cream applied to the face can improve moisture and firmness.
Formulas often add vitamin C and hyaluronic acid for brightness and hydration. Your provider will check whether a topical estrogen is safe for you.
Who it may be prescribed for
- Women after menopause with dry or thinning skin
- Women who want a targeted, low-dose option
- Women without a history of estrogen-sensitive cancer

Important safety information
Estriol is a form of estrogen. Although very little is absorbed from a face cream, it is not suitable for women with a history of breast or uterine cancer, blood clots or unexplained vaginal bleeding, or during pregnancy. Stop and tell your provider about any breast tenderness or bleeding. Compounded medications are prepared by a state-licensed pharmacy for an individual patient. They are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they are dispensed.
