What is oral progesterone?
Micronized progesterone is identical to the progesterone your ovaries make. For women who still have a uterus and take estrogen, it protects the lining of the uterus from overgrowth.
It is taken at bedtime because it can make you drowsy, which many women find helps them sleep. Your provider will set it up alongside your estrogen.
Who it may be prescribed for
- Women with a uterus who take estrogen
- Women in perimenopause with irregular cycles, as advised by a provider
- Women already on hormone therapy who want online care
